AG PEN PAL PROGRAM
 

The Ag Pen Pal Program teaches students that agriculture is the source of their food, clothing, shelter and other essentials of life. The program links classrooms with farm and ranch families across Nebraska.

A new and innovative program, the "Books of the Year" concept was launched to promote children's literature with an agricultural theme.

LEARNING BARNS
  The Agriculture in the Classroom Program has 35 mobile Learning Barns across the state of Nebraska. Learning Barns are available to Lincoln Public, Lincoln
non-public and Omaha Public classrooms that participate in the Ag Pen Pal Program. Thirty Nebraska counties also have Learning Barns available for classrooms in their county.

NATIONAL EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING ABOUT AGRICULTURE AWARD
  The National Excellence in Teaching About Agriculture Award is sponsored by USDA's Agriculture in the Classroom Program and the National Agriculture in the Classroom Consortium. This program recognizes a select group of teachers that teach agriculture concepts in their curriculum and meet their State Standards.

NEBRASKA TEACHERS OF THE YEAR
  Teacher of the Year recognition is given annually to two Nebraska certified K-8 teachers who creatively bring agriculture into their classrooms while achieving Nebraska State Standards.

PRESERVICE PRESENTATIONS
  PreService presentations are conducted at Nebraska universities and colleges for future teachers. The future teachers learn new ways to integrate agriculture into their classrooms by utilizing the many resources available through AITC, other organizations and commodity groups.

TEACHER MINI-GRANT PROGRAM
 

All certified Nebraska K-12 teachers are eligible to apply for a mini-grant of up to $200 for school year 2009-10, for expenses of a project that uses agriculture as the vehicle to meet the Nebraska State Standards.
